Moisture Reduction Checklist
- Remove standing water quickly.
- Increase airflow if safe.
- Use dehumidifiers to reduce indoor humidity.
- Remove wet cardboard, rugs, fabrics, and porous materials.
- Check behind baseboards and under flooring.
- Do not rely only on surface drying.
- Monitor for musty odors.
- Check drywall near the floor.
- Inspect cabinets and toe kicks.
- Check closets next to affected rooms.
- Inspect flooring transitions.
- Look below sinks and around plumbing fixtures.
- Inspect attic or ceiling areas if the water came from above.
- Musty odor.
- New staining on walls or ceilings.
- Soft drywall or bubbling paint.
- Warped flooring.
- Visible spots or discoloration.
- Persistent humidity after cleanup.
